Our expedition begins early in Anacortes, Washington, where you'll board Supernova, settle into your stateroom and enjoy breakfast as we leave the mainland behind.
We cruise through the San Juan Islands toward Orcas Island, surrounded by forested shorelines, mountain views and the wildlife-rich waters of the Salish Sea.
After anchoring near Orcas, bikes and riders transfer to our landing craft for our first adventure ashore.
Our opening ride explores the forests, lakes and mountain terrain of Moran State Park, one of the signature outdoor destinations of the San Juan Islands.
This first afternoon gives everyone a chance to settle into the bikes, stretch the legs and experience what makes riding in the Pacific Northwest so special.
After the ride, our landing craft brings you and your bike back to Supernova.
Then the transformation begins.
Bike shoes come off.
Hot showers are waiting.
Drinks and appetizers appear.
Our chef prepares dinner while Supernova gets underway for Stuart Island, where we'll spend our first night at anchor.
Enjoy dinner surrounded by the islands as the sun goes down over the Salish Sea.
Ride by day. Yacht by night.
Wake early aboard Supernova as we cross the international border and enter Canada.
After completing Canadian entry formalities, breakfast is served as we continue toward one of the most beautiful corners of southern Vancouver Island — Tod Inlet and the Butchart Gardens area.
Once anchored, the landing craft takes riders and bikes ashore for our second riding adventure.
Today's riding brings us into the Hartland / Mount Work trail system, where classic coastal forest meets an extensive network of mountain-bike terrain.
Expect towering evergreens, moss-covered rock, roots, rolling singletrack and plenty of options to tailor the ride to the ability and energy of our group.
We'll design the day's route around our four riders rather than forcing everyone into a predetermined tour.
Want more?
Keep riding.
Want to call it a day?
Supernova is waiting.
After riding, return aboard for showers, recovery snacks and a chef-prepared meal while surrounded by the protected waters of Tod Inlet.
And the day isn't necessarily over.
Guests can spend the evening exploring the internationally renowned Butchart Gardens, just steps from our anchorage when operating hours permit.
Walk through spectacular gardens as daylight fades, enjoy the evening atmosphere and return to Supernova for a peaceful night on the water.
Tomorrow, we head north.
Enjoy breakfast underway as Supernova cruises north through the islands and waterways of southern Vancouver Island toward Maple Bay.
This will be our home for the next two nights.
And for mountain bikers, we've arrived somewhere special.
Mount Tzouhalem is one of the Cowichan Valley's marquee mountain-bike destinations.
Today we'll explore a custom route through its network of forested climbing trails, flowing singletrack and technical descents, matching the ride to the experience level of our group.
This is what the expedition is all about:
A serious day of mountain biking without giving up the comforts of a world-class vacation.
When you're finished riding, there's no hotel shuttle waiting.
There's a boat.
Our landing craft retrieves the group and returns you across Maple Bay to Supernova.
Hot shower.
Clean clothes.
Cold drink.
Fresh Northwest food.
Then put your feet up and watch the mountains you just rode turn gold in the evening light.
We'll remain at anchor in Maple Bay for the night.
Wake up slowly.
Coffee on deck.
Breakfast prepared by our chef.
Your bike is only a landing-craft ride away from another exceptional trail system.
Today we ride Maple Mountain.
The mountain rises directly beside the waters around Maple Bay and offers a completely different day of riding — forested climbs, purpose-built mountain-bike trails, natural terrain and spectacular coastal surroundings.
We'll again tailor the day to our riders.
Push for a big day on the mountain or shorten the ride and spend more time enjoying the yacht.
This isn't a race camp.
It's an adventure.
Return to Supernova for the final evening of the expedition.
Take a hot shower.
Relax on deck.
Watch for seals, porpoises, eagles and other Salish Sea wildlife.
Then gather around the table for a special farewell dinner prepared aboard.
Think fresh local seafood.
Wild salmon.
Dungeness crab when available.
Seasonal vegetables.
Fresh salads.
Northwest flavors.
Great conversation.
And a quiet evening at anchor in one of British Columbia's most beautiful coastal settings.
Wake for one final morning aboard Supernova.
There's no rush to check out of a hotel or load luggage into a van.
Enjoy breakfast as we get underway and cruise south through the islands toward the United States.
Spend the morning on deck, relax, photograph the scenery and keep watch for wildlife as the Salish Sea passes around us.
We'll complete U.S. entry formalities and continue back to Anacortes, arriving with five days of riding, exploration and life aboard Supernova behind us.
Your bags moved once.
Your hotel moved every day.
And there's a good chance you'll already be thinking about where we should ride next.
A traditional destination cycling trip usually means:
Ride. Pack. Drive. Check in. Unpack. Repeat.
We've replaced all of that with:
Ride. Board. Shower. Eat. Relax. Sleep. Wake up at tomorrow's trailhead.
Supernova becomes your floating lodge, restaurant, transportation and base camp.
Our landing craft allows us to move riders and bikes between yacht and shore.
And with only four guests on this inaugural expedition, we can build each day's riding around the people aboard.
LIFE ABOARD SUPERNOVA
Supernova is an approximately 80-foot expedition yacht designed for extended cruising throughout the Pacific Northwest.
After a day on the bike, you'll come home to a level of comfort rarely associated with an adventure trip.
Your expedition includes:
Bring your mountain bike, your riding gear and a sense of adventure.
We'll take care of the rest.
